Strengths and Weaknesses of Filipinos

Pinoy Bad Habits that we need to change:
  • Pretentious
  • Boastful
  • Arrogant
  • Insolent
  • Jealous
  • Domineering 
  • Cheating
  • Corruption
  • Busybodies
  • False Witness
  • Short minded / Shortsighted 
  • Pessimistic / Negative thinker
  • Angered easily
  • Disobedient 
  • Individualistic
  • Regionalism (bad side racist, prioritized co-province mate or co dialect mate)
  • Inconsiderate (like videoke party till deep of the night)
  • Torts (negligence)
  • Euphemism (a way of substituting a word or phrase that is thought to be offensive or harsh with a mild and acceptable one in order to not offend or hurt another person)
  • Onion skinned (easily get offended)
  • Oversensitive (have the tendency to be irritated or hurt upon hearing some criticism or comments.
  • Filipino Time (Late, tardy or delaying task)
  • Manana Habit (procrastination, delaying or setting aside a certain task assigned on the next day although it can be done today)
  • Bahala na Habit (Come what may or whatever will be will be)
  • Litterbugs (Tapon dito, tapon doon, basurang tinapon natin pumatay sa atin, kung saan kumain doon din iiwan, maliit at tinutuping basura sinilid sa salumpuwit)
  • Extravagant (One-day millionaire minded, no savings) 
  • Ningas Cogon / Tuyong Talayib [Fire Dried Tall Grass] (good start but unfinished business, Quick Fire)
  • Palakasan System or Kompadre System (Relative first / Friends first / former Classmates first / Rich first / Good looking first / Sexy first / VIP first)
  • Utang na Loob System (Next time ikaw naman ang taya)
  • Pakikisama (negative side)/Ganging up for regular vices like gossiping, secret combinations, smoking, alcohol drinking and drug addiction.
  • Sama-sama Mentality (Sama-sama walang laglagan)
  • VIP System (very important person privileges) 
  • Wang-wang System (VIP on road of some politics and influential persons even breaking traffic rules) 
  • Lagay System / Padulas System / Regalo System / Suhol System for privileges and protection.
  • Padrino Blessing (Befriended a political figure or influential person)
  • Pahingi / Palaasa / Balato System / Pasalubong / Huthut / Freebie Hunters
  • Pabalot ng pagkain (Dine-in and take out system type of visitor)
  • Your Success and Palibre Pakain o Magpapainom (Free Meal or Liquor) System
  • Tagay System (Drink beer sharing on streets rather than saving money or fed family first, sharing  liquor and cigarettes among minors)
  • Harbor / Give me system / Bakit wala ako?
  • Una-unahan System /No lines to be followed / with money just deal with fixers.
  • Some said, "Wala ng Batas, di na uso 'yan."
  • Tuto-turo System (keep on blaming others, the government while doing nothing and not keeping even smaller and simple laws of the land like no littering, no smoking within 100 meters in public premises, no jaywalking, no parking etc.)
  • Colonial Mentality  (loves foreign products, people and figures)
  • Crab Mentality (some Filipinos pull down fellow citizens' successes, copied some business successes of others and compete with them in same location in high competitive manner until both or nearly all of them failed like survival of the fittest and more money wins) 
  • Patulong (Help) / Palimos (Alms) / Solicit System / Easy Money / Gimme System / Merry Christmas Carol Solicitation / Aguinaldo ko System / Palaasa (some have no self-reliance practices)
  • Pakikipagsabayan sa uso System / Living beyond their means (Social Climber)
  • Bad debtors (utang jot down on water or 10 years forgotten) 
  • Bullying good workers and poor citizens.
  • Hesitant in doing heroic act or any simple act of kindness.
  • When you do good they mock and say, "Sana kunin ka na ni Lord" or "Nagpapakabayani".
  • Street Tambay (Standby / jobless / electric post counter / istambay sa looban)
  • Gaya-gaya attitude (lalo na sa mali at madalian / nagclick ang small business sa isang lolasyon ngunit lahat gumaya patay na ang business, imitating or copying other culture specifically in mode of dressing, language, fashion, haircut, trends, gadgets etc.)
  • Hawa-hawa (sa kalokohan at bentahe)
  • Lazy, idle and sloth... offline.
  • NATO members - No Action Talk Only
  • Waiting for easy and fast success rather than work for it. Quick success minded.
  • Lack of Patriotism 
  • Bad traditional politics
  • Unorganized
  • Kaya mo yan! (Give most of the work to the newbie like rookie MVP, but in basketball they are seldom used) 
  • Not happy on the righteous deeds and success of others. 
  • Happy on non-sense talk and deeds with friends
  • One OFW (Overseas Foreign Worker) fed all members of family, extended family and friends.
  • Nepotism or Favoritism system or Manukan sistema.
  • Short-cut Mentality (madaliang makuha kahit sa maling paraan)
  • Malaglag sa Linya Sistema (not fall in line, fixer and pay na lang)
  • Attention grabber (Epal)
  • Gossiping / Gossip monger 
  • Gambling
  • Kapalaran Values (a trait of accepting his/her fate by believing is written in his/her palm. Such trait contribute to lack initiative and perseverance)
  • Jackpot Mentality (quick get rich, lottery, engage in fast ways of acquiring money than hanrd work  and sacrifice by getting in lottery, joining raffle draw, etc.
  • Tsamba lang attitude (simplicity by declaring that his/her accomplishments are result of luck and not from perseverance and ability)
  • Treated OFW as ATM.
  • Passivity (lack of Leadership) Sa klase, meetings, pagsamba, seminars ay sa ulihan; relief goods, concerts, traffic, papremyo, sakayan unahan. Sa ulihan ng jeep para unahan makalabas. Ulihan at tamad sa paggawa ng mabuti, takot matawag ng bayani pero mabilis at unahan sa paggawa ng kalokohan.
  • Easily follows the law of other countries because afraid of punishment. But ignoring even the very basic law of their country.

  • Resilient (matatag sa gitna ng mga matitinding pagsubok)
  • Perseverance
  • Hospitable
  • Hard workers
  • Make things possible.
  • Full of Faith in God.
  • Lead by example
  • Helpful
  • Optimistic / Positive Thinker
  • Charitable
  • Compassionate
  • Invite you while they're eating.
  • Family unity (in prayer, division of labor and righteous beliefs)
  • Gender Equality
  • Honesty
  • Flexible
  • Reliable
  • Skillful
  • Service without payment / Volunteerism 
  • Cleanliness and Orderliness
  • Cheerful givers
  • Patriotic / Regionalism
  • Good work ethics
